Every new cinema release is a major event
Already in the first months of 2025, the cinema sector has collected some excellent results: from January to the end of February, box office takings have reached 111,140,000 euros, with an increase of +12.62% vs 2024. Attendances have risen to 15,540,000, +10.35% compared to the same period last year. The audience in Rai Pubblicità’s circuit theatres has also increased, with +14.74% in admissions (data as of 19th February). These results highlight how cinema continues to be a strategic advertising medium, capable of attracting a diverse and attentive audience.
The growing interest in the big screen is supported by the release of titles that were the absolute protagonists of the award season, culminating in the Oscar awards: A Complete Unknown, Emilia Pérez and The Brutalist.
Looking towards spring, the offering is even richer: action and spectacle come together in La città proibita (13th March), Gabriele Mainetti’s film that blends noir and social drama in a dark metropolitan setting, suitable for both young people and adults; followed by Snow White, Greta Gerwig’s live-action adaptation of the Disney classic, released on 20th March, dedicated to a family and intergenerational audience; closing the month is Le assaggiatrici (27th March), by Silvio Soldini: based on the Italian bestseller by Rosella Postorino, the story explores the psychological tension of ten women forced to risk their lives to taste dishes intended for Hitler.
